REVIEW | Table For Seven: The Works [and Haul]

Last night I got spend some quality time with a few of my favourite girls over dinner and I thought I would write a blog post about it because why not right?

It was sort of a birthday gathering. Because my birthday is in June - which is during the summer time for university students - I was really glad that I could celebrate it with my friends back in Ottawa now that everyone is back in town! We went to a restaurant called 'The Works' which I believe is only opened in Ontario so far. It was my second time there but  have to say I was a bit disappointed :( The last time I was there was over a year ago and last night when I looked at the menu, I realized they had changed it completely!

One thing I've always appreciated about The Works' menu is that they are EXTREMELY creative with the names of their food. It's the little things ya know? Basically what you do is 1) choose 'toppings' for a burger (whatever you want in the burger), 2) choose a patty (different varieties of meat or veggie patties), and 3) choose a side to go with the burger.

#SoHip
I ordered 'the hipster' burger which had avocado, caramelized onions, and havarti cheese. The food is served in a metal tray which I thought really added to the rustic atmosphere. Maybe it was the lack of color of the burger, I didn't think it would be very appetizing at first glance. But thankfully it was alright. I chose a turkey patty and a side of cucumbers and celery. I have to say though, in comparison to my first time here, the portion got so much smaller! The burger and the side! There was literally 5 slices of cucumbers and 4 pieces of celery... Not impressed. But other than that, the taste was still good.

Some delectable foodporn shots hehe.

Kamikaze - jalapeno, chipotle, banana peppers, cheddar, hot sauce, with beef patty
Sweet Ride - onions, pear, brie, with veggie patty

Sounds and looks delicious don't they? :')

One of my friends was so sweet and ordered a dessert for me because I didn't have a birthday cake. I think people are genuinely good to you when they remember or notice the little things. :'D It had some crushed cookie chunks and chocolate chips at the bottom, some vanilla ice cream above that, and topped with whipped cream and chocolate sauce! Hmmm *_* We can all use a day-off from clean eating once in a while hehe. It was delicious!!

The Cookie Monster!

Also something I really liked was their unique choice of containers.
The water and milkshakes at The Works are served in these gigantic measuring cups and the salt&pepper shakers are shaped like light bulbs! Isn't that so creative?

Time for the gifts!

My friends got me some super duper awesome stuff last night, I'm so excited to share them with you all! I think there will be a haul/favourites video coming so stay tuned! ;D (www.youtube.com/user/mishywishy00)

All in all, it was a night of good food and great company. 'Twas a good night. :)

Thanks for reading and I hope you have a wonderful weekend! c:
